about

I'm Jacob.

I shoot portraits, couples, and lifestyle work, mostly in Orange County. If you're thinking about a session, I'd love to chat, even if you're not totally sure what you want yet.

A friend called my style "true to life, with a punch," which I've started using because it's more accurate than anything I'd come up with on my own. My color leans warm, and I work hard to keep it true to the room you were standing in instead of pushing it somewhere it wasn't.

Most of what I shoot is candid. I pay a lot of attention to the background, the light, and the time of day before anyone has to do anything, so by the time the moment shows up the picture is mostly already there. Most people aren't fully comfortable in front of a camera right away, and that's normal. You don't have to know how to pose, and you don't have to be photogenic in any traditional sense. If you want some directed shots in the mix, like family groups or a portrait that isn't a moment, I can run that side too.

Background.

A short version of how I got here and what I'm working with.

  • 2024–Present: Photography program at Fullerton College.
  • 2026: Wedding & Event Site (this portfolio).
  • Cameras: A Canon R6 II and an R6 III.
  • Based: Orange County, California. Available across LA and beyond for the right shoot.
  • What's Next: Building a portrait series I'm proud of, taking on more weddings each season, and eventually a printed book of the work.

Process.

I edit in Capture One because of the control and accuracy. A lot of the work happens after the shoot: getting the whole set consistent, building color that's beautiful but actually true to the room, and tightening each frame's composition until it earns its place. The goal is photos that look like the day, not photos that look like a filter.

If you're planning something, I'd love to hear about it. The fastest way to reach me is email.
